School Chorus The Westcoast School Chorus is the official choral performing group of The Westcoast School for Human Development. The Chorus, organized in 1988 under the direction of Dr. Henry L Porter, the school's founder has garnered a Steller reputation for its tight harmonies and unique style. With a repertoire that spans from traditional standards to Contemporary Gospel. The chorus always leaves its audiences astounded. For the past16 years, the chorus has performed for events all throughout the United States . Its local performances have included, The United Negro College Fund Annual Banquet, The NAACP Annual Banquet, The Sarasota Interracial Mayor's Breakfast, The Mistletoe Ball, YMCA's Annual Black Achievers Benefit Banquet, Sarasota's Arts Day, Sarasota Yacht Club, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art's Ungala Gala, Selby Gardens Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Martin Luther King Day Celebration, The Crosley Estate Christmas Event , On a national level, the chorus has preformed at the Pentagon, in Washington, DC, Yale University, in New Haven, Conn., At Elementary, Middle schools and churches all throughout the United States. Their Television appearances include CBS's Street Stories with Ed Bradley (Mr. Bradley recognized The Westcoast School for its innovative educational methods.) And local shows such as The Love Campaign channel 40's Common Ground and Black Almanac .
